Don't worry! Vitiligo is NOT Contagious - Please Offer a Smile

We have to state this as clearly and loudly as possible: Vitiligo is absolutely, 100% NOT contagious!

Vitiligo is caused neither by bacteria nor viruses. It occurs simply because the body's immune system mistakenly targets its own pigment-producing cells (melanocytes).

Think of it like a smartphone battery aging prematurely—it's an internal mechanism issue. Shaking hands, dining together, or sharing public facilities will never transmit vitiligo. Next time you see someone with white patches, please set aside any unnecessary fear and offer a warm, understanding smile. That acceptance often heals more than medicine ever can.

Reminder: The hurt caused by societal prejudice is frequently far more painful than the physical condition itself.
